Closer is the story of four strangers in London – their chance meetings, instant attractions and casual betrayals.

Sexy, funny and powerfully moving, Closer debuted at the National Theatre and enjoyed a long West End run in the late 90s, before being repopularised for a new audience in the recent film starring Clive Owen, Jude Law, Julia Roberts and Natalie Portman. Its tense atmosphere works even better on stage.

“The writing seems to have been ripped straight from the gut”
Daily Telegraph on Closer

What the audience said

"Had me transfixed"
"High quality performances from all concerned"
"Have watched the film and the play at the National but reckon this production has the edge (by a distance)"
"I congratulate everyone on a powerful piece of drama"
"Thursday's performance of Closer was really good, outstanding in fact"
"I thought the play was done very well indeed"
"Kathryn Rogers was compellingly sexy on stage"

What the papers said

Close to the Bone
11th May 2006

"The gorgeous Hayley Pullen was Alice, an apparently worldly-wise young woman who is really an ingenue. Her love for Howard Salinger's Dan dominates the play."

"Kathryn Rogers as Anna gave a confident performance as the woman towards whom both men are drawn."

"The most admirable thing about OVO is their willingness to tackle even the most challenging plays. Long may OVO continue to go where many others fear to tread."
